The four stops, in order of the listing
The 5th Station comes first: in the operating season the coach drives up Mount Fuji to about 2,300m, with time for snacks and souvenirs. Outside that season the coach goes to the highest point the road allows and then to the Mt. Fuji Museum instead. Next is Oishi Park on Lake Kawaguchi, a lakeside viewpoint with seasonal flowers. Then comes Arakurayama Sengen Park, where you climb to the five-story Chureito Pagoda for the view of the pagoda with Mount Fuji behind it. The last stop is Oshino Hakkai, a village with eight spring-fed ponds and food stalls.
What the $64 covers, and what it does not
The price covers your coach seat, a guide who stays with the group all day, and entry fees for every stop. Meals, drinks and personal spending are not included, and you board at Shinjuku or Tokyo Station, not your hotel. The operator says card payment is not accepted everywhere on the route, so bring cash for food and souvenirs. The listing no longer includes a Gotemba Premium Outlets stop, though the booking page's web address still names it. A tea ceremony shown in the listing's video belongs to a different tour from the same operator.
Weather, traffic and the return time
The operator does not guarantee that Mount Fuji will be visible. If the tour runs and clouds hide the mountain, you get no refund. The return to Tokyo can run 2 to 3 hours or more behind schedule in peak-season traffic, so don't book anything time-sensitive for that evening. The operator suggests packing snacks for the same reason. Check the forecast and dress for the weather, especially for the 5th Station, which is much higher than Tokyo.
